About Veterans Defending the Bill of Rights:
Veterans Defending the Bill of Rights, founded in 1999, is a network of thousands of U.S. military veterans from all eras who are deeply concerned about the proposal to restrict Constitutionally guaranteed free speech in exchange for "protecting" the symbol of free speech and other civil liberties. Veterans Defending the Bill of Rights oppose the proposed constitutional amendment to outlaw flag "desecration". Veterans, more than most other U.S. citizens, understand the cost of freedom--we have paid that cost. Veterans Defending the Bill of Rights members are committed to continuing the fight to preserve freedoms.
Sadly, now this fight is being waged in Congress which is perilously close to imposing constitutional restrictions on the freedom of speech--for the first time in our history--that we sacrificed to protect through our service.
Please join your fellow veterans in the effort to protect the freedoms we cherish.
